Yves Ferrari, born in 1972 in Geneva, has been the Director of FMEL since July 2021. After studying architecture in Geneva, he pursued sociology at UNIL and later earned a Master of Arts in Society, Science, and Technology at EPFL, as well as a Master of Arts in Society, Science, and Technology in Europe. He worked as a scientific collaborator at EPFL before founding a private company specializing in sustainable development consulting. He also taught at the post-secondary level in the canton of Vaud for 14 years.
In 2017, he was appointed part-time director (50%) of the housing cooperative "Le Bled," responsible for developing an 11,000 m² SPd building in Plaines-du-Loup. This project includes 77 apartments, various activities, and several shared spaces. By involving future residents and promoting shared spaces, the project seeks to encourage a new way of living based on sharing and mutual respect.
After serving on the board of the Lausanne Housing Foundation, he joined the board of directors of COLOSA. He is currently Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Lausanne Real Estate Company for Housing SA (SILL SA) and the Vaud Housing Company SA (SVL SA). He is also a board member of the Bois-Gentil Foundation and the President of the Building Commission.
Housing thousands of students, FMEL has been a key partner of universities (UNIL, EPFL, HEP, etc.) for 60 years, playing an essential role in the development of the canton of Vaud.
