Bedding, sheets, towels and dishes are NOT provided.
Connections:
- all rooms and studio flats are equipped with an internet connection and TV outlet (a tax must be paid for those with a TV), Billlag AG. 2 public telephone booths are located at the main entrance of the building.
Rent – PERMANENT residents:
- monthly rent for a room facing south (all inclusive) is CHF 520.–
- monthly rent for a room facing north (all inclusive) is CHF 450.–
- monthly rent for a studio flat for 2 (all inclusive) is CHF 665.–
- monthly rent for a studio flat for 1 (all inclusive) is CHF 630.–
monthly rent for two room flat (all inclusive) is CHF 1020.–
for persons subject to foreigner tax, an additional CHF 30.– is included
Lease (bail):
- Minimum duration 3 months. Termination in writing, one month in advance for the end of the month.
- Maximum duration 5 years, or up to completion of Master’s degree.
- Security deposit equivalent to one and a half months’ rent.
Room Upkeep:
- Residents are responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of their own rooms. Any necessary items such as brooms, hoover, cloths can be borrowed from the house manager.
Corridors, stairways and shared areas are maintained regularly by the FMEL staff. Residents using the shared kitchens must wipe the table, sweep the floor, and do the washing up after each meal.

- please respect neighbours and refrain from making noise outside (playing loud music, having discussions, throwing bottles into the container, slamming car doors, etc) after 10 p.m.
The house is for both men and women.
Holidays – vacating the room:
- It is possible to vacate your room during the summer (June – August) and come back to the same room starting 1st September.
TEMPORARY rentals during the summer:
- During university vacation (June to August), the FMEL rents the empty rooms to participants in summer courses and other visitors. Rates are CHF. 50.- per night (minimum 5 nights) including bedding kit (sheets, pillow and blanket).
- For groups (minimum 20 people), contracts at a fixed rate can be negotiated. Contact FMEL administration at the address falaises@fmel.ch for more detailed information.

The FMEL administration office is closed on Tuesday morning until 2.00 p.m. From July to August, the administration is closed Tuesday, all day long.

Shared utilities:
- a recreation room with TV and one with a piano are available to all residents, but are subject to reservation at the house manager’s.
Laundry:
- 3 washing machines (prepaid card system – contact house manager) and 3 dryers (free of charge).
Waste disposal:
- waste must be sorted as follows: (bins are located at the main entrance).
- please check with house manager upon arrival.
- for large objects, see pick-up dates on website Lausanne recycling website.
- by systematically and proprerly sorting your waste, you contribute to protecting the environment.

Parking:
- no parking spaces for residents.
Bikes:
- a closed-in bike park is located at the main entrance for residents only. Use room key to unlock.
Cellar – storage:
- there are no cellars. However, each resident has a personal storage cupboard in the corridor.
